- Zoro engages Mihawk in direct duel (Ch. 50-51).
- Zoro is decisively defeated — the first on-page Zoro loss (the load-bearing inversion of the Ch. 16 self-wound-handicap axiom).
- Zoro accepts the loss and graduates the dream from aspirant-with-target to aspirant-with-named-mentor (Mihawk’s “come back when you’re stronger” posture — anticipated).
- Long-burn payoff at Ch. 597 (the time-skip): Mihawk trains Zoro on Kuraigana Island.

Why this matters
This is the arc-pivot seed for the Baratie arc’s Zoro storyline. The chapter installs both the named target (Mihawk) and the dream-pricing rule (gave-myself-up-for-dead) in a single beat.
