Why this matters

Wapol is introduced in Ch. 131 wearing a crown-like tin headpiece atop a fur-trimmed coat, captaining a band called the Tin Tyrant Pirates, commanding a kingdom-scale submersible warship. Yet he introduces himself as a pirate captain and claims never to have heard of Drum Kingdom (p. 12) — the destination the Straw Hats name. The crown worn by a self-described pirate, the Tyrant in the crew-name, and the pointed denial of knowing Drum together seed the forward-canon reveal that Wapol is Drum Kingdom’s ousted monarch. A wardrobe-and-prop foreshadow paired with a dramatic-irony dialogue-tell.
