Why this matters
The double-cigar visual is the prop-coding that visually identifies Smoker across every later appearance in the series. Every subsequent Smoker panel through forward chapters retains the double-cigar visual.
The double-cigar wreath also creates a visual ambiguity with his Logia-form: the smoke pluming from the cigars overlaps with the smoke pluming from his Logia-body, making it visually unclear in some compositions whether a given smoke-cloud is cigar-smoke or Logia-smoke. This is a deliberate Oda compositional choice — the user-coding (cigar-smoke) and the power-coding (Logia-smoke) are visually fused into a single Smoker-tell.
Pre-loads:
- The Ch. 98 SSSS~SS shoulder-smoke (where the smoke is Logia, ambiguated by the cigar-smoke pattern).
- Every forward Smoker-debut panel (Alabasta, Punk Hazard, etc.) — the double-cigar wreath is the persistent visual identifier.
