The seed
Ch. 59 page 2 — Zeff rejects Sanji’s debt-payment-by-suicide (“I don’t want any favors”); Ch. 59 pages 15-16 — Luffy articulates the same anti-self-sacrifice doctrine (“Getting killed is no way to repay your debt”). The chapter installs the un-payable-in-food / un-discharge-able by martyrdom premise.
The payoff
The Sanji-recruitment finale (Ch. 67-68) will need to re-categorize the debt: it is paid by Sanji leaving the Baratie to find All Blue (Zeff’s own original dream), not by Sanji dying for the Baratie. The Ch. 59 chapter is the moral-frame-setup for the recruitment-decision.
Why this matters
Oda’s recruitment-pattern doctrine: the recruit’s debt-to-the-old-life is paid by joining the captain, not by dying for the old life. Pattern instances: Nami’s Cocoyasi-debt → paid by Luffy beating Arlong, not by Nami dying for the village; Robin’s universal-betrayal-debt → paid by Robin’s “I want to live”, not by Robin dying at Enies Lobby. Sanji’s Ch. 59-68 arc is the prototype articulation.
