Ch. 80 page 1: Nojiko’s narration to Sanji/Yosaku/Johnny: “Ever since that day eight years ago… no one has seen Nami shed a tear. And she’s never asked anyone for help!!!”
The chapter installs the eight-years-no-tears-and-no-help-asking doctrine as Nami’s emotional thesis. The doctrine is built to break — its compositional weight is its arc-climax payoff.
Ch. 80 also breaks the no-tears half of the doctrine at the chapter’s final tier (page 17 — Nami cries “Curse you, Arlong!!!”). The chapter installs and partially-breaks the doctrine in a single chapter — but the never-asks-for-help half is held intact through Ch. 80.
Predicted payoff
Forward-payoff (Ch. 93): Nami breaks the never-asks-for-help half when she calls “Luffy!!! Help me!!!” to Luffy at the Arlong Park gate. The doctrine’s full break is the arc’s emotional climax. Luffy’s response (“Of course I will!!!”) is the recruitment-grammar pivot the chapter pre-loads.
The payoff
Ch. 93 — no-tears clause re-broken in gratitude mode under Luffy’s straw hat
