Why this matters
The nameless country is a structural metaphor: a kingdom in succession-limbo, mid-election, between a deposed tyrant and a not-yet-chosen successor. That some citizens regard a pirate conquest as a blessing establishes the arc’s core thesis — legitimacy rests on how a kingdom treats its people, not on the crown.
