Why this matters
The chapter installs Luffy’s kindness-debt-trumps-enemy-evidence trust-doctrine — the load-bearing inversion of standard pirate-distrust grammar.
The doctrine has a counterintuitive structure: Luffy treats received kindness as load-bearing evidence of moral character, even when contradicted by direct observational evidence of hostility. The doctrine cannot be falsified by counter-evidence within Luffy’s moral framework — once kindness has been received, the donor cannot be re-classified as an enemy. The doctrine reads as naive on the surface; in deep-canon it operationalizes a moral-physics principle: kindness creates an irrevocable trust-bond.
