Why this matters
The chapter installs two distinct combat-grammar patterns:
1. Tier-skipping incidental-defeat
Luffy clears a canonized antagonist-tier as a digression from his main objective (the Zoro fight). The defeat happens without Luffy registering Mr. 5 as a threat — Mr. 5 is dispatched in the same gesture as resuming a walk. The grammar is the protagonist defeats the tier without noticing the tier.
Forward-pattern:

- Bellamy (Mock Town) — Luffy refuses to fight, then one-shots when finally engaging.

2. Vivi as audience-stand-in canon-tier-aware shocked-reaction-shot
An ally who knows the in-universe tier reacts in shock so the reader internalizes both the tier itself and the protagonist’s tier-skipping superiority. Vivi is uniquely qualified for this role across the Alabasta saga — she trained inside Baroque Works as Ms. Wednesday and knows the rank-hierarchy from the inside.
