Why it matters

Visually identical to the later Soru (Shave) technique of the CP9 Six Powers (Rokushiki), which Oda will not introduce by name for many chapters. The technique:

• Operator vanishes from one spot.
• Operator re-materializes elsewhere.
• No Devil Fruit attribution — Kuro shows no other DF-style power.
• Cross-character tracking: operator can follow the protagonist via the warp (page 18 — Kuro re-materializes behind Luffy after Luffy fires Gum-Gum Spear, suggesting the warp is directed not random).

Inference: Kuro is an early prototype of the Soru technique. The Rokushiki system, when introduced, may be a named codification of techniques scattered villains have used independently for years — meaning the Six Powers are not a CP9-exclusive martial art but a legible-named system for techniques that exist freelance in the broader world.

Combat-mechanics consequence: Luffy’s named-technique vocabulary (Pistol/Whip/Rocket/Bazooka/Spear) operates on fixed target positions — the warp-step makes the Gum-Gum strikes miss-by-vanishing-target (page 17 Spear demonstration). Luffy will need a new tactic for opponents who can vanish from the strike’s intended position. This sub-mystery is staged for the rest of the Syrup Village arc.
