Page 6 — Genzo (deadly-serious close-up, pinwheel-still-spinning, glasses-opaque): “Listen, kid. Nami’s going to sail off with you pirates. It will be a dangerous voyage. But if you guys do anything to make her unhappy, I’ll kill you!!!! Do you understand!!!?” Luffy (small panel, eyes-shadow): “I wouldn’t do any— I understand.” (NOD). The Ch. 72 Nami-quietly-arrives-at-bloodied-Genzo surrogate-father composition reaches its arc-climax payoff: Genzo formally executes the father-to-suitor kill-warning protocol at the moment of recruitment-handoff. Luffy receives the warning without comic-pose — the Bell-mère-killed-by-Arlong (Ch. 78) trauma is here transposed onto the protect-Nami-from-pirate-harm register. Status pivot: confirmed. After Arlong’s regime-display and Usopp’s escape, the chapter closes on a continuous Nami-arrival composition: extreme close-up of Nami’s face from below (page 17), TA-DAH caption; villagers murmur “Nami…”; then a low-angle of her ankles and woven tribal sandals walking down the dirt road (SLAM SLAM SLAM SFX, page 18); she arrives at the bloodied Genzo, who is recovering on a stoop (klak klak of pinwheel still spinning), and asks quietly: “It was Arlong, huh? I heard a ruckus.” Genzo: “What are you doing here in broad daylight?” / “What’s this?”

The composition installs Genzo as the first person Nami goes to on her return — not Nojiko (her step-sister, who is offscreen at this moment), not the village-mass, but Genzo specifically. The Ch. 70 witch-of-the-village doxxing is here counter-staged with Nami-the-village-daughter-coming-home-to-her-elder.

The payoff

Forward-flashback (~Ch. 77+): the Bell-mère flashback canonizes Genzo as the village-elder who helped Bell-mère raise Nami and Nojiko; the Ch. 72 final-page composition is read in hindsight as a daughter coming home to her surrogate father after Arlong has beaten him.
