Why this matters
This canonizes a pre-Wapol legitimate monarch of Drum — distinct from Wapol the tyrant. Three implications:
- Wapol is the successor / usurper, not the founder. The Ch. 133 worst king ever framing now reads against an old king baseline he failed.
- Hiriluk’s mission has a deeper origin than personal resistance — he was bound by a deathbed promise / wishes-inheritance from a predecessor king. The doctor / pirate costume duality may trace to whatever the old king’s dying instructions were.
- The country’s kingdom of doctors identity (Ch. 133-135 framing) likely belongs to the old king’s reign — pre-Wapol Drum was a doctor-kingdom; Wapol’s purge inverted it.
Cross-link to Dalton Son Of Former King Of Drum Indebted Doctrine — Dalton (Ch. 136) cites loyalty to the former king to whom I am indebted; the former king of Dalton’s loyalty and the old king of Hiriluk’s deathbed-promise are likely the same person (Wapol’s father). Forward-canon: the old king identity, the nature of his wishes, and the manner of his fall (illness? deposition? Wapol succession?) are likely cashed in the Drum arc-finale or a subsequent flashback.
