Why this matters
This is the first time the name Blackbeard is spoken in One Piece. The reader and the Straw Hats meet Blackbeard purely as a name and a feat of reputation — a captain who, leading a crew of only five, can overrun an entire kingdom in a single strike. The off-page conquest of the Drum Kingdom is Blackbeard’s first attributed deed in the series.
The character himself (Marshall D. Teach) does not appear on-page until ~Ch. 223, and does not become a saga-level antagonist until Marineford (~Ch. 576+). The Ch. 133 name-drop is therefore one of Oda’s longest-fuse foreshadows — a casual bystander line that plants the future arch-rival ~90 chapters before he appears. The small crew, immense power register established here recurs throughout Blackbeard’s early career.
