Why this matters
Canonizes Zoro’s always-pacing-himself / always-vigilant combat register as a structural-doctrine, not a chapter-beat. Forward-pattern: every later Zoro-faked-incapacitation beat re-keys to this Ch. 107 doctrine:
- Zoro pretending to sleep on watch but actually monitoring — recurring across the entire series; the Zoro-snores-but-strikes-the-attacker-anyway register is the operational form of the doctrine.
- Zoro feigning drunk-state to lure enemies — the Ch. 107 install is itself the paradigm-case (drinks with 13 men, pretends to be unconscious, then springs the ambush from above).
- Wano-arc I-was-faking-it register — Zoro’s combat-tier in Wano includes multiple beats where he’s been operating at higher capability than he displayed.
- Marineford Mihawk-recognizes-Zoro-as-true-swordsman — Mihawk’s eventual cross-saga assessment of Zoro keys off the doctrine the Ch. 107 caption-tier installs.
The doctrine also retroactively reframes the Ch. 41+ Zoro-drinks-from-his-side-flask register: Zoro has always been pacing his alcohol intake; the Whisky Peak install is the on-page articulation of the prior register, not a new development.
