Return-to-Sabaody-Reader-Request-Title-Pages

Storyline
Return-to-Sabaody reader-request title pages (Request series)
Status
ongoing

A register-bin, not a serial — the Return-to-Sabaody-arc successor to the Post-War one-offs. Beginning with the two-year timeskip, Oda fills several chapter title pages with reader-requested gag illustrations: a fan mails in a one-line premise (printed as a “Request” caption with the requester’s pen-name and prefecture), and Oda draws it as a standalone B&W chapter-title panel. These carry no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter, so they are logged in one place to keep future reader passes from forking each gag into a new cover serial.

The structural test is the same as the prior arc bins: a page belongs here when its title strip carries only the chapter title plus a “Request” requester credit — no serial banner, no installment counter — verified on-page. The gags are unrelated to the chapter’s main-plot content and never rejoin main canon.

Per-chapter log

  • Ch. 599 “Nine Pirates” (B&W chapter-title page — reader “Request” gag, no series caption) — Page 1 reader-request illustration: Luffy counts sheep to fall asleep and the sheep make off with his food. Requested by Twins Mother (Hyogo). A pure gag decorative one-off in the same light register as the Post-War-bin gag splashes; unrelated to the chapter’s content (the crew re-converging on Sabaody, Zoro’s scar, Franky’s “BF-37” rebuild). Verified on-page: the title strip reads only the chapter title with the “Request” requester credit — no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter — so it is logged here as standalone decorative B&W title art, not a serialized installment and not a cover→main-plot crossover. (p. 1)
  • Ch. 600 “Island of New Beginnings” (B&W chapter-title page — reader “Request” gag, no series caption) — Page 1 reader-request illustration: Zolo mistakes a crocodile for a weight during training and swings it around. Requested by Kororu (Kanagawa). A pure gag decorative one-off, unrelated to the chapter’s main-plot content (the post-timeskip Sabaody reunion, Soul King Brook’s farewell concert, “Armored” Franky, the Caribou-brothers super-rookie debut, Rayleigh’s reunion Vivre Card). Verified on-page: the title strip reads only the chapter title with the “Request” requester credit — no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter — so it is logged here as standalone decorative B&W title art, not a serialized installment and not a cover→main-plot crossover. (p. 1)
  • Ch. 601 “Romance Dawn for the New World” (B&W chapter-title page — reader “Request” gag, no series caption) — Page 1 reader-request illustration: Nami plays cards at a casino table against a trio of sweating, suited-up “unscrupulous” herons. Requested by Anonymous. A pure gag decorative one-off (post-timeskip Nami design), unrelated to the chapter’s main-plot content (the Sabaody reunion, Soul King Brook’s flight, the fake-Straw-Hat / Demalo Black blockade, the Caribou debut, real Luffy’s Haki-charged Jet Pistol, Rayleigh’s send-off, the “King of the Pirates” re-declaration). Verified on-page: the title strip reads only the chapter title with the “REQUEST … BY ANONYMOUS” requester credit — no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter — so it is logged here as standalone decorative B&W title art, not a serialized installment and not a cover→main-plot crossover. (p. 1)
  • Ch. 602 “Downward Ho!” (B&W chapter-title page — reader “Request” gag, no series caption) — Page 1 reader-request illustration: Usopp racing with otters, diving alongside them on sleds. Requested by Tea Ceremony Club President. A pure gag decorative one-off (post-timeskip Usopp design), unrelated to the chapter’s main-plot content (the full nine-member crew’s farewell to Rayleigh and departure from Sabaody, the coated-ship buoyancy-pouch dive mechanic, Hancock/Kuja shielding the escape, the Sunny submerging for Fish-Man Island). Verified on-page: the title strip reads only the chapter title with the “Request” requester credit — no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter — so it is logged here as standalone decorative B&W title art, not a serialized installment and not a cover→main-plot crossover. (p. 1)
  • Ch. 603 “Keep That in Mind” (B&W chapter-title page — reader “Request” gag, no series caption) — Page 1 reader-request illustration: Sanji and cute squirrels making pie together. Requested by NSC Hayao. A pure gag decorative one-off (post-timeskip Sanji design), unrelated to the chapter’s main-plot content (the Caribou/Coribou fake-Straw-Hat killings, the Rayleigh-Roger first-meeting straw-hat flashback, the coated Sunny’s dive toward Fish-Man Island, the Bartholomew Kuma two-year-guardian reveal). Verified on-page: the title strip reads only the chapter title with the “Request” requester credit — no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter — so it is logged here as standalone decorative B&W title art, not a serialized installment and not a cover→main-plot crossover. (p. 1)
  • Ch. 605 “The Kraken and the Pirates” (B&W chapter-title page — reader “Request” gag, no series caption) — Page 1 reader-request illustration: Chopper posing as the model in a “Drawing Class” while a circle of raccoon dogs (tanuki) sketch him — captioned “*DRAWING CLASS *DRAW YOUR BUDDY.” Requested by Mossari. A pure gag decorative one-off (a riff on Chopper being repeatedly mistaken for a tanuki), unrelated to the chapter’s main-plot content (the Kraken battle on the descent, Luffy’s “Color of Arms — Hardening” Haki, Robin’s Gigantesco Mano, Sanji’s Blue Walk, Franky’s rebuilt arsenal, the down-welling current scattering the crew). Verified on-page: the title strip reads only the chapter title with the “REQUEST … BY MOSSARI” requester credit — no recurring cover-serial banner and no “Vol. N” installment counter — so it is logged here as standalone decorative B&W title art, not a serialized installment and not a cover→main-plot crossover. (p. 1)

Notes

  • status: ongoing (open register-bin) — kept open because the Return-to-Sabaody arc continues to ride standalone reader-request gag title pages on adjacent chapters (Ch. 601 “Nami plays cards with unscrupulous herons”, Ch. 602 “Usopp racing with otters”, Ch. 603 “Sanji and squirrels making pie”, and Ch. 605 “Chopper sketched by raccoon dogs in a drawing class” now logged above; subsequent gags are appended here, not forked, as each chapter is processed). Re-key to concluded and seal the bin if/when a successor numbered or banner-bearing cover serial resumes (the next true cover serial in this era begins later in the New-World run).
  • No payoff_chapter / no technique/cover-story-payoff Foreshadowing entry: these are decorative reader-request one-offs, not a tracked cover plot that rejoins main canon (contrast the Caribou→Wano and Hachi/Camie→Sabaody cover→main crossovers).
  • Not to be confused with the Ch. 598 “TWO YEARS LATER” full-crew color spread (a magazine color title spread, not a B&W reader-request gag) or the Ch. 601 p. 20 “3D2Y Section” timeskip character-redesign sketches — neither belongs in this bin.
