- Storyline
- Limited Cover Series No. 26 — Onigashima Sinks
- Status
- ongoing
The opener installment of the 26th numbered Limited Cover Series, debuting on the Ch. 1109 chapter title page during the Egghead arc (Final Saga). The art is a single still: the skull-shaped Onigashima rock lying on the seabed, a sword still planted upright in it, fish circling the sunken Wano ruins (p. 1).
This thread is opened on the “Limited Cover Series No. N” structural precedent (an art-only numbered opener banner — see Limited-Cover-Series-No-10-Island-of-No-Survivors), not on a confirmed narrative read of the single opener image. The @1109 reader flagged the page as a “serialized cover story (defer to cover-tracker).”
Per-chapter log
Captions recorded verbatim from the printed strip.
- Ch. 1109 — Limited Cover Series No. 26: “Onigashima Sinks” (opener): the skull-shaped Onigashima rock rests on the seabed, a sword still planted in it, fish circling the drowned Wano ruins. No characters depicted. Establishes the banner and title; recurring narrative not yet visible. (p. 1)
- Ch. 1113 — continuation (no title-page banner this chapter — the 1113 title slot was a reader-request color spread, “The King is a fighting Piece,” tracked separately in the Color-Spreads register, not here). The serial instead runs as a wordless bottom strip on the final page (p. 19, beneath the chapter’s “To be continued!”): an underwater scene — rubble/debris drifting down, schools of small fish, and a long-haired figure in flowing dark robes sinking among the drowned ruins — with bubble SFX “CLUB BLUB… / CLUB…”. Continues the @1109 “Onigashima Sinks” drowned-seabed motif; re-read & confirmed on the original page. The sinking figure is unnamed on-page — logged by appearance only, not identified (§Forward guards). Note the format shift from a chapter-title-page splash (@1109) to a final-page bottom strip (@1113). (p. 19)
Forward-payoff watches
- Confirm-or-fold (1110+): RESOLVED → CONFIRM. The @1113 continuation (below) gives No. 26 a second installment of the same drowned-underwater motif, so it is a recurring themed serial, not a standalone splash to fold into the Egghead decorative one-offs bin. Still no “Vol. N” counter has appeared on-page (the @1109 opener and the @1113 strip are both un-numbered), so the descriptive title “Onigashima Sinks” is retained; watch whether a later installment adds an installment counter or develops a named cast.
- @1113 continuation — CONFIRMED & LINKED. Ch. 1113 p. 19 closes with a wordless
underwater bottom strip — rubble/debris drifting, schools of fish, a long-haired robed
figure sinking among the drowned ruins, “CLUB BLUB… / CLUB…”. Re-read on
the original page and confirmed as the same @1109 “Onigashima Sinks”
drowned-seabed motif; 1113 is now in
chaptersand the per-chapter log. The sinking figure is unidentified on-page and is logged by appearance only (§Forward guards). - Thematic resonance with the main plot (watch, not payoff): this “Onigashima sinks”
splash runs in the very chapter where Vegapunk’s broadcast goes live, and four chapters
later the broadcast’s headline lands — “The world as we know it… will sink into the
sea!!” (Ch. 1113 pp. 18-19; see
Vegapunk Final Message and Sinking World). A sunk Onigashima (which carried a
Wano Road Poneglyph) on the cover mirrors the rising-seas / sinking-world warning. Record
as a thematic mirror only — there is no on-page cover→main plot merge, so no
cover-story-payoffForeshadowing entry is filed (§Forward guards: assert nothing the pages do not show).
