• Etymology resolved: the gimlet cocktail (gin/vodka + lime), part of Señor Pink’s family drink-name motif (mother Russian = the Black/White Russian cocktail). In SBS Vol. 78 p.46 Oda confirms the name and ties it to Raymond Chandler’s hardboiled-noir novel The Long Goodbye — “I suppose it’s a bit too early for a gimlet” — to reinforce Señor Pink’s “hard-boiled man” theme.
