Status: confirmed · Technique: chekhov-explicit · named-technique-debut · combat-thesis-payoff
The seed
(See the seed-side notes: Zoro Must Learn To Cut Steel To Defeat Mr 1 Combat-Thesis Seed and Mr 1 Body Is As Hard As Sword Metal Slashing No Effect Doctrine — the Ch. 0193 cut-steel thesis and the uncuttable-body doctrine.)
The payoff
Ch. 196 p. 13 —
WINNER: ZOLO caption + Crocodile’s acknowledgment
The defeat is formally captioned WINNER: ZOLO at the Alubarna North Block / Medi Assembly Hall (The Battle of the Main Street ). Crocodile, inspecting Mr. 1’s body off-site (pp. 12-13): ‘You actually improved over the course of this battle… Cut through a diamond next? That would be such a waste. You got me.’ — the Warlord acknowledges Zoro crossed the steel-cutting threshold. (The on-page cut itself is the Ch. 0195 Lion Strike, below.)
Ch. 195 pp. 19-21 — Zoro cuts steel; Mr. 1 falls
After crossing the cut-steel threshold, Zoro declares ‘I don’t need to defend myself anymore’ and answers Mr. 1’s Atomic Dicer!! with a single drawn katana — ‘One sword, one strike. …Lion Strike.’ (Shishi Sonson ; SWAK ) — cleaving Mr. 1’s steel body. Mr. 1 falls (final splash, p. 20). Zoro re-sheathes, blood-dripping: ‘My thanks. …Now I’m stronger.’ (p. 21, CHAK ). First on-page single-sword Santoryu-variant finisher and the literal cut-steel payload that overcomes the Ch. 0193 Mr 1 Body Is As Hard As Sword Metal Slashing No Effect Doctrine .
Earliest known caller
0195 vault-side install).
Why this matters
The first rung of Zoro’s lifelong cutting-mastery ladder (cut steel → cut nothing → forward-canon cut-the-unbreakable). Pays off the cut-steel thesis exactly one chapter after it was articulated — a tight chekhov-explicit payoff window.
