The reputation-precedes-the-fighter pattern becomes a Zoro signature for the rest of the series:
- Alabasta soldier recognition (~Ch. 158-159): the Royal Guards recognize Roronoa by reputation.
- Skypiea Skypiean recognition (~Ch. 240+): Skypiean characters recognize Zoro by his sword-style.
- Marineford recognition (~Ch. 569): even at the war’s apex, Roronoa is an identifier the Marines and Whitebeard Pirates use.
- Wano recognition (~Ch. 909+): the entire Wano-arc opening hinges on Zoro’s epithet preceding his face.
The Ch. 50 instance is the first on-page East-Blue-wide recognition — the prior on-page recognition was within Shells Town (the Marine base) or within the bounty-hunter community; this is the first time uninvolved-civilians (Baratie cooks) recognize Zoro on sight.
