The Ch. 45 “I don’t need you here anymore. Follow your heart. Go be a pirate.” pre-emptive release is here upgraded to an active-staged-release on departure-day. The Baratie’s aggression-as-affection culture (the Ch. 47 Patty/Sanji insult-trades, the crap-geezer/crap-hat verbal code) reaches its structural-grammar payoff — every visible Baratie interaction is love-disguised-as-violence.
The payoff
Forward-payoff: the gruff-master-hides-love archetype recurs across the series with Hiriluk/Chopper (Drum Island), Rayleigh/Luffy (post-war), Garp/Luffy (always), and Tsuru/everyone. The Zeff/Sanji instance is the East Blue prototype.
Why this matters
The staged-rejection-as-release device is the recruitment-pattern’s master-side permission-grammar in its most elaborate form — the master doesn’t just grant permission, the master performs hatred so the disciple is forced to leave. The disciple’s emotional permission is engineered, not granted.
