The seed
The payoff
(Pending. The doctrine pays off most famously in the Water 7 Going-Merry crisis — Usopp leaves the crew over his own dream being dismissed; the doctrine cuts both ways.)
Why this matters
This is the structurally load-bearing Strawhat-loyalty-grammar canonization at the foot-soldier level. Captain-tier loyalty is a captain-tier thing (Luffy’s I’ll be King of the Pirates); the question for the rest of the series is whether the lowest-power crewmate has the same loyalty. Ch. 0186 answers: yes — and the trigger is dream-mockery. This doctrine is the Shanks → Yasopp → Luffy → Usopp doctrine-relay-loop, made explicit at Usopp-tier for the first time.
The doctrine is cuts-both-ways — it will resurface in Water 7 when Luffy says Usopp’s dream of saving the Merry can’t be honored, and Usopp will leave the crew over it. The doctrine canonized here is the structural-engine of that future-crisis.
