Why this matters
This is the first on-page articulation of Sanji’s chivalry as a positive self-sacrificial-protection doctrine rather than a negative no-kicking-women restriction. The previous Drum-arc chivalry beat (Ch. 135 “every blow you give or take will be felt by Nami”) framed Sanji’s chivalry as combat-restraint; this beat extends it into combat-absorption — Sanji will take the damage himself rather than let it touch a woman in his care.
The doctrine then recurs across the entire series as Sanji’s signature behavior pattern:
