Forward-canon: the Sandora River is named on-page in a later Alabasta chapter. The river-into-interior route is the Strawhats’ navigation-architecture for the early Alabasta arc — they sail the Merry up the river toward Erumalu, then disembark for the desert traversal toward Alubarna.

Why this matters

Establishes the arc’s traversal-architecture in two dialogue bubbles: coast (Nanohana) → river (Sandora, forward-canon) → desert → capital (Alubarna). The geography is locked in before any of the inland locations are visited.
