Why this matters
- The Three Sword Style is bonded to Zoro’s body (Onigiri is Zoro-specific — sword-in-mouth deployment requires Zoro’s training/grip), but the swords-as-objects are transferable. The distinction is structurally important for every later “the swords are taken from Zoro” arc-beat (Wado Ichimonji loss-scares; the Enma cursed-blade backlash and exchange-of-grip with Hiyori; the Mihawk-duel sword-handling at Baratie; every blade-stealing arc-beat).
- The gag is the seed — Oda is showing the reader that Zoro’s signature gear is not magical. The same gag-grammar applies to every other character’s signature gear in the series (Luffy’s hat handed off to Nami for repair in Ch. 22; Sanji’s Vinsmoke uniform handled by Brook in Whole Cake; Usopp’s slingshot/Pop Greens lent across the crew at various points).
- Crew-shared-resource grammar — the chapter is one of the early seeds for the Nami-as-pre-recruitment-strategic-operator reading: she treats all crew assets as fungible resources to be deployed by the team’s most-tactically-positioned member.
