The seed
Pages 16-17 — Arlong, having searched Nami’s room: “That is, until I found THIS in your room.” He unfurls an old weathered treasure map with X marking Coco Village. Nami reacts as if caught: ”!! That’s my…!!!” / “It belongs to Nami. Give it back.” / “This is mine!! You had no right!!” — snatches it back (SWUP!!).
What it predicts
The map’s existence implies Nami has been operating two-layered:
- Primary layer: the named contract (deliver 100M berries to Arlong, buy back Coco Village).
- Secret layer: independent thieving with an off-contract treasure-target on Coco Village itself.
The map may be:
- A literal stash-location for Nami’s privately-saved berries (in case Arlong steals her contract savings).
- A decoy to suggest she has an additional plan (psychological deterrent against Arlong reneging).
- A reference to Bell-mère’s-era buried treasure on Coco Village (long-burn family-stash reveal).
Forward-pattern: the robbing-pirates-code’s two-layered shape is now operational; every later Nami-money-tell should be checked for which layer it operates on.
