The seed

Throughout the Water Seven arrival, masked figures (“masks… they’re so beautiful and opulent”) appear all over the canal city and the shopping district (Ch. 324, pp. 11–12: “those masked people… they’re all over town”). The motif culminates in a masked intruder boarding the Going Merry at the cliffhanger (pp. 19–20).

Why this matters
