The gag recurs across the series in cover-stories (Luffy’s drawing of crewmates in bonus art), in chapter-bonus art-time, and in major painting beats. Notable recurrences:

• Bonus art pages where Luffy draws his crewmates as monstrous distortions.
• Cover-stories where the gag is referenced.
• Major art-beats (e.g., the Thriller Bark Brook-vs-Robin art gag).

Why this matters

• Captain incompetence domain — Luffy is the captain, but his art is one of the domains where the crew can openly correct him. The recruitment-pattern’s crew-vetoes-captain register (extended in Ch 42 from recruitment-priorities to art-skills) is a load-bearing character-grammar for the Straw Hats: the captain is infallible in moral judgment but fallible in skill domains, and the crew fills the skill-gaps.
