The payoff

Forward-payoff:

• The Merry will be returned by Nami at the Baratie arc’s end. The Ch. 50 “I sure had fun” / “Tell them I hope we meet again” line is already foreshadowing the return — the chapter’s monologue is both the theft-confession and the eventual-return setup.
• The two-stage Nami-recruitment runway (Ch. 14 interim → Ch. 95 Arlong full-commit) gets a third stage installed here: Ch. 14 interim → Ch. 50 self-exile → Ch. 95 full-commit. Three discrete stages across 81 chapters.
