Why this matters
Kanji-as-rank-tell: the 壱 (formal/legal kanji for “one”, used in financial documents to prevent forgery) on Mr. 1’s bare chest is the visual-tell of his rank — Mr. 1 in the visual register. The formality of the chosen kanji encodes the formality of Mr. 1’s character — most-serious, most-feared, most-rank-bound.
Shoulder-blade-protrusion prop-tell: sword-handles emerging from Mr. 1’s shoulders pre-tease the forward-canon Devil Fruit (Supa Supa no Mi / Dice-Dice / Blade-Blade Fruit — body becomes blades).
Intra-tier combat-asymmetry install: Mr. 1 fells Bon Clay in a single counter. Within the Officer-Agent tier, combat-tier is rank-correlated — Mr. 1 (rank 1) > Mr. 2 (rank 2).
Officer-Agent unity is a polite fiction: Mr. 1 openly tries to kill Bon Clay within minutes of meeting him. The Pair-Stack is held together by orders, not loyalty. Compare: Mr. 5’s Anyone stupid enough to sacrifice himself for a partner deserves to die doctrine (Ch. 110).
