Third installment — the Chapter 1000 milestone (Ch 999→1000 connecting poster)
Why this matters
This is a layout mirror, not a theme rhyme — five independent compositional anchors carry across the spreads: (1) two-page horizontal title/poster format, (2) Luffy front-center-right, wide grin, raised arm, forward lean, (3) Zoro lower-left/foreground grinning, (4) Nami laughing with arms raised on the left, (5) the whole roster embedded in an identical scattered-treasure / jewels field with a skull motif top-corner. All three are saga/series milestones: Ch 100 “THE LEGEND BEGINS” caps East Blue and launches the Grand Line; Ch 598 “TWO YEARS LATER” caps the timeskip and launches the New-World half; the Ch 999→1000 connecting poster celebrates the 1000-chapter milestone at the apex of the Onigashima raid. Watch-for lesson: when a chapter’s marquee panel is a full-crew spread amid treasure with Zoro foreground and a skull motif top-corner (Luffy front-right-grinning when the full image is present), treat it as a deliberate “new era begins” / milestone beat and cross-check it against prior milestone spreads (Ch 100 is the index case). Oda reuses this exact triumphant-amid-treasure staging at structural turning points — the iconography (gold-and-jewels backdrop) is a payoff-pointer to “the treasure / the One Piece,” not just decorative. Connecting two-chapter posters (like 999↔1000) are a tell that the composition is a deliberate milestone bookend, not a one-off title page.
